About

Jiru Li is a Recognised (Visiting) PhD Student in the Healthcare Data Science and Intelligence (HDSci) Lab at the University of Oxford. Jiru is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science and Technology at Dalian University of Technology.

Jiru’s research focuses on biomedical natural language processing (NLP), information extraction, large language models (LLMs), and knowledge graphs. During the PhD, Jiru has worked on biomedical document-level relation extraction, knowledge graph construction and completion, and LLMs for biomedical applications, with a broader interest in extracting and integrating knowledge from biomedical data to support knowledge discovery.

Jiru has contributed to the development of Taiyi, a bilingual LLM for biomedical applications, and participated in the BioCreative VIII BioRED shared task, where the team achieved second place. Prior to starting the PhD, Jiru gained industry experience at DiDi, working on data analysis and data-driven product optimisation.

At Oxford, Jiru’s research will focus on applying NLP and LLMs to biomedical and clinical data, with particular interests in extracting and representing clinically meaningful knowledge from complex healthcare records and broader biomedical data.

Research Interests

Jiru’s research interests include biomedical NLP, information extraction, large language models, knowledge graphs, biomedical knowledge discovery, and AI for healthcare.
