About
Suzanne Maynard is a Haematology Registrar (ST6), NIHR Clinical Research Fellow, and DPhil candidate undertaking full-time research within the Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) on Data-Driven Transfusion Practice. Her research focuses on applying healthcare data science and artificial intelligence to improve transfusion practice and predict outcomes such as bleeding and thrombosis, particularly in under-researched and underrepresented patient populations.
Suzanne completed her undergraduate medical degree and an intercalated BSc in Clinical Sciences at the University of Birmingham before undertaking Foundation Programme training in London. She subsequently spent a year working in New Zealand and completed Core Medical Training in Edinburgh before returning to southern England to begin Haematology Specialty Training in West London.
Her growing interest in haemostasis and thrombosis, together with the potential of large-scale healthcare data and artificial intelligence, led her to pursue doctoral research in Oxford. She is developing data-driven approaches using routinely collected healthcare data to enable scalable, efficient clinical research and support evidence-based transfusion practice.

Suzanne's research interests include healthcare data science, artificial intelligence, transfusion medicine, haemostasis and thrombosis, clinical prediction modelling, real-world healthcare data, and data-driven approaches to improving patient outcomes.
